Wilmington-The Delaware State Police are currently investigating a shooting incident where a suspect was shot by a Trooper earlier this afternoon.
The preliminary investigation has determined the incident occurred on December 15, 2017 at approximately 4:24 p.m. in the area of Farrand Drive and Hammond Place, Wilmington. The initial investigation reveals a trooper attempted to conduct a traffic stop and was subsequently dragged by the suspect vehicle. The trooper fired his divisionally issued firearm at the suspect.
During the traffic stop the Trooper sustained non-life threatening injuries. The trooper was then transported to a local area hospital. The suspect was also transported to a local area hospital with serious injuries.
This investigation is active and ongoing with further details to be released as they become available.
Farrand Drive is currently closed at (DE 2) Kirkwood Highway as the investigation continues.
