*TRAFFIC ADVISORY-UPDATE* Overturned Tractor Trailer on Naamans Road Has Caused Road Closures

Wilmington – Delaware State Police are investigating a crash involving an overturned tractor trailer that still has surrounding roadways shut down.

The incident occurred at approximately 12:12 p.m., Monday, December 4, 2017, on Philadelphia Pike in the area of Naaman’s Road, Wilmington. A 2007 Freightliner tractor trailer tanker truck, containing liquid propane, was turning right onto westbound Naaman’s Road, from Philadelphia Pike, southbound, when it overturned. The operator and sole occupant of the Freightliner, identified as Jason Groff, 35, of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, who was properly restrained, was able to exit the vehicle without assistance, and was uninjured, as a result of the crash. The tanker remained intact and there was no subsequent leakage of its contents.

Groff was cited for Careless Driving.

 As a result of the crash Philadelphia Pike remains closed between the Pennsylvania state line and I-495. Naamans Road is closed at Ridge Road.

Expect heavy delays in the area and seek alternate routes of the travel.
