Claymont- The Delaware State Police New Castle County Governor’s Task Force has arrested a Chester, PA man after he was found to be in possession of drugs and a gun yesterday in Claymont.
The investigation began at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 6, 2017, as members of the New Castle County Governor’s Task Force (GTF) were conducting proactive patrols in the Claymont area. It was at this time that they observed a male subject, later identified as Jihad Amaad Rashaad Morris of Chester, PA, conducting what appeared to be hand to hand drug transactions in the parking lot of the Northtowne Plaza, located at 601 Naamans Road. GTF members contacted Morris who was seated in the driver’s seat of a silver Chevrolet Impala and upon conducting a pat down search of him, they located 10 grams of powder cocaine inside of his pants. A fully loaded Glock 9 mm handgun was also located in the armrest of the vehicle.
Jihad Morris was transported to Troop 1 where he was arrested and charged with Delivery of a Controlled Substance, Possession with the Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon. He was arraigned at JP Court 11 and committed to the Howard Young Correctional Institution in default of $53,000.00 cash bond.
