Troopers Investigate Attempted Robbery – New Castle

New Castle (19720) – The Delaware State Police are currently investigating the attempted robbery of a New Castle area gas station that occurred yesterday morning.

The initial investigation has determined that the incident happened at approximately 6:16 a.m. on Wednesday, January 11, 2017, as a male suspect entered the Sunoco located at 285 Christiana Road. The suspect, who had a mask partially covering his face, approached the enclosed sales counter and ordered the female clerk inside to open the door. The clerk however refused. The suspect, who did not imply that he was armed or display a weapon, then exited the store and fled in an unknown direction. The clerk was not injured.

The suspect was described as a black male. He was 5’08”-6’02” tall, weighed 180-200 lbs., and was last seen wearing a black jacket, brown sweatshirt, gray sweatpants, and black shoes. There is no further physical or clothing description available. No video surveillance photos are available to be released at this time.
