Dover– The 2-year-old child that was found wandering in the Redner’s Market parking lot early this morning has been reunited with his parents.

The incident occurred around 5:30 a.m. Monday August 29, 2016 when state police were dispatched to the parking lot of Redner’s Market located at 88 Salt Creek Drive, North Dover.  A female employee of Redner’s was just getting off work and upon walking to her car, noticed a small child walking through the parking lot.  The female immediately brought the child back into the store and called 9-1-1.  When the troopers arrived at the store, a search of the surrounding area and parking lot for the parents of the young boy were unsuccessful and with limited vocabulary, the young boy was unable to communicate his or his parent’s names.  Troopers then transported the toddler back to Troop 9 in Odessa where he was given some refreshments and snacks while notifications were made to the Division of Family Services and information was posted to social media and news outlets.

At approximately 7:20 a.m. the father of the child contacted 9-1-1 when he awoke and noticed the young boy was missing from the business in which he works located in the same plaza as Redner’s.  It was later determined through the interviews with the child’s parents, that the 26-year-old father had brought his son with him to his place of business on the previous night and the two fell asleep on a couch.  Sometime in the early morning while the father was still asleep, the child opened the door to the business and walked outside.  After searching the area for the young boy, the father first contacted the 30-year-old mother of the child to find out if she had stopped by to pick him up and then dialed 9-1-1.

Both mother and father, who are from Dover, responded to Troop 9 where they were interviewed and the boy was turned over to his mother.

No charges are forthcoming in this incident and no names will be released.

 Troopers Investigating Fatal Motor Vehicle Crash – Dover

Dover- The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal crash that occurred north of Dover Thursday evening.

The incident occurred around 6:36 p.m., Thursday August 25, 2016, as a 2002 Chevrolet Malibu operated by a 59 year old female of Dover was traveling east bound on Scarborough Road east of McKee Road, Dover. A 1999 Buick LeSabre operated by Alexander B. Wright, 22 of Virginia was traveling west bound on Scarborough Road approaching McKee Road.  An unknown Vehicle, possibly a white Kia passenger car was travelling east bound on Scarborough Road in front of the Chevrolet Malibu.  The Kia pulled over to the right shoulder and the Malibu was behind the Kia. The Kia then made a U-turn in front of the LeSabre and continued west bound. The Malibu swerved to the right onto the shoulder and lost control and started to rotate in a counter clockwise direction as it crossed over into the west bound lane into the path of the LeSabre.  As a result the front of the LeSabre struck the driver’s side door of the Malibu for impact in the west bound lane.  After impact, the Malibu rotated counter clockwise 180 degrees and came to rest in the center of the roadway, west of the collision. The LeSabre travelled north of the area of impact and came to rest on the west bound shoulder facing in a westerly direction.

The operator of the Malibu was properly restrained. She was transported by ambulance to the Kent General Hospital where she was pronounced dead. Her name is being withheld pending the notification of her next of kin.

Alexander B. Wright, 22 of Virginia, was properly restrained and sustained non-life threatening injuries. He was transported by ambulance to Kent General Hospital where he was treated and released.

The Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing their investigation into this incident. Scarborough Road in the area of the collision was closed for approximately three and a half hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.

Smyrna, DE – Troopers have arrested a New Jersey man for DUI after he crashed his vehicle into an embankment east of Smyrna.

The preliminary investigation has determined the incident occurred around 6:05 a.m. Saturday, August 27, 2016, as Leroy P. Wooster, 28 of New Jersey, was operating a 2014 Dodge Dart northbound on Korean War Veterans Memorial Highway (SR 1) in the area of Black Diamond road. He attempted to change lanes form the left lane to right lane and lost control which resulted in his vehicle traveling into a ditch where he struck an embankment. The Dodge Dart continued over the embankment and struck the other side of ditch where his vehicle rolled multiple times and ended upright facing SR 1.

Leroy P. Wooster, 28 of New Jersey, was not wearing his seatbelt. He was treated by paramedics and transported by the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit to the Christiana Hospital Trauma Center with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Leroy P. Wooster was cited and later released after being charged with Driving a Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol, Failure to Have Insurance Identification in Possession, and Careless Driving.

SR 1 northbound near Black Diamond Road in the area of the crash was impacted for approximately 2o minutes.

Clayton, DE- Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit are currently investigating a serious motor vehicle crash involving a motorcycle that occurred last night west of Clayton.

The initial investigation has determined that the crash occurred last night, Saturday, August 28, 2016, at approximately 9:44 p.m., as Robert Kimble, 53 of Maryland, was operating a 2007 Harley Davidson Dyna low rider motorcycle northbound on Blackiston Road north of Chance Road. A 2003 Jeep Liberty, operated by Joy L. Taylor, 42 of Maryland, was northbound on Blackiston in front of the motorcycle. Kimble attempted to pass the Jeep Liberty on a double yellow line and struck left rear fender of the Jeep Liberty. The impact sent the Jeep spinning out of control and into a grass field. Kimble was ejected from the motorcycle as it went down on its left side. The motorcycle slid into the southbound lane where it stopped north of the collision.

Robert A. Kimble, 53 of Maryland, was wearing a helmet. He was treated by paramedics and then was transported by the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit to the Christiana Hospital Trauma Center with life threatening injuries. Alcohol and speed are factors on the part of Robert A. Kimble.

Joy L. Taylor, 42 of Maryland, and her three passengers were all wearing seatbelts and were uninjured in the collision.

This crash remains under investigation by the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit. Blackiston Road in the area of the crash was closed for approximately four hours as the crash was investigated and cleared.

Newark, DE – The Delaware State Police is currently investigating a serious crash that occurred south of Newark yesterday afternoon.

The preliminary investigation revealed the incident occurred around 2:04 p.m. Saturday, August 27, 2016 as Austin R. Ricketts, 19 of Pennsylvania, was operating a 2000 Toyota Camry southbound in the right lane on South College Avenue (SR 896) approaching Old Baltimore Pike. Betty E. Favazza, 74 of Hockessin, was operating a 2000 Toyota Corolla as she was stopped on the inside left turn lane of eastbound Old Baltimore Pike at SR 896. The Corolla failed to remain stopped for a red light and entered the intersection as the Camry entered the intersection. The Camry swerved to the left to avoid the collision however its front ride side struck the Corolla’s front left side. The force of the impact pushed the Corolla backwards and caused it rotate 360 degrees in clockwise direction eventually coming to a controlled stop in front of the eastbound lane of Old Baltimore Pike. The Camry lost control and traveled into the northbound left lane of SR896 where it was able to come to a controlled stop.

Betty E. Favazza, 74 of Hockessin, was wearing a seatbelt. She was treated by the New Castle County Paramedics for multiple traumatic injuries and was airlifted by the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit to the Christiana Hospital Medical Center.  Beth E. Gorin-Adams, 55 of Newark, was a passenger in the Corolla and wore her seatbelt. She was also treated by the paramedics and transported by EMS with serious injuries to the Christiana Hospital Medical Center. Betty E. Favazza was cited for failure to stop at a red light.

Austin R. Rickets, 19 of Pennsylvania, was wearing a seatbelt and was treated by the New Castle County Paramedics. He was transported by EMS to the Christiana Hospital Medical Center with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Old Baltimore Pike and Glasgow Bypass SR 896 in the area of the crash was closed approximately one hour as the crash was investigated and cleared.

Newark, DE- Delaware State Police are currently investigating the robbery of a Newark area CVS store that occurred yesterday morning.

The initial investigation has determined that the incident occurred on Friday, August 26, 2016, at approximately 8:45 a.m., as a male suspect entered the CVS, located at 366 East Chestnut Hill Road, Newark. The suspect approached the sales counter and confronted a male clerk and patron. He then demanded money from the cash registers. The clerk complied with the suspect’s demands and turned over an undisclosed amount of money to him. The suspect then exited the store and ran in a westbound direction. There were no injuries.

The suspect was described as a white male in his twenties approximately 5’07” to 5’10” tall, weighed approximately 150 lbs., with his face covered wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and dark pants. There is no further physical or clothing description available.

Millsboro, DE – The Delaware State Police Sussex Drug Unit have arrested Roderick T. Brown, after the culmination of a four week long investigation into illegal drug sales from residences in Millsboro.

On Friday, August 26, 2016, the Delaware State Police Sussex County Drug Unit, with the assistance of the Governor’s Task Force and the Millsboro Police Department executed a search warrant at a residence located in the unit block of Houston Circle, Millsboro. Roderick T. Brown was located and detained outside of the residence. A search of the residence was conducted resulting in the seizure of 48.28 grams of powder cocaine, 12.89 grams of crack cocaine, .46 grams of heroin, 18.73 grams of marijuana, and over $5,000.00 in suspected drug sale proceeds. The investigation led detectives to a second address in the unit block of El Coleman Drive, Millsboro. A search of the residence resulted in the seizure of two handguns.

Through the course of the investigation detectives learned that Roderick Brown was keeping other bank accounts and assets from drug dealing. As a result of a search warrant, detectives seized an additional amount of over $109,000.00 in suspected drug sale proceeds.

Roderick T. Brown (a.k.a. Roderick Mumford), 44 of Millsboro, was transported to Troop 4 and was charged with Possession of Cocaine in a Tier 5 Quantity, Possession of Cocaine with the Intent to Deliver in a Tier 4 Quantity, Possession of Crack Cocaine with the Intent to Deliver, Possession with the Intent to Deliver Marijuana, Possession with the Intent to Deliver Heroin, Two Counts of Possession of a Deadly Weapon by Person Prohibited and Two Counts of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court 2 and was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $172,000.00. (Mugshot attached)

Felton, DE – Troopers uncovered a one-pot meth lab while conducting a drug investigation south of Felton.

The preliminary investigation has determined the incident occurred around 6:52 a.m. Friday August 26, 2016, as troopers were dispatched to the location in the 5,000 block of Little Mastens Corner Road to investigate a domestic related complaint. Upon arrival, troopers found Lawrence D. Grimm had initially barricaded himself in a bathroom. He was later taken into custody without incident. At that time, it was determined that he had discarded an active one-pot meth bottle in a trash can outside the residence prior to troopers arriving to the residence.

Upon taking Grimm into custody, the active one pot meth bottle began to smoke. The residence was subsequently evacuated and scene secured until the arrival of the Delaware State Police Kent County Drug Unit, Governor’s Task Force, Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC), and the Felton Community Fire Company who responded to assist with the investigation.  A search was conducted which revealed equipment and component mixtures of the manufacturing stages of Meth along with key ingredients in making the drug.

Lawrence D. Grimm, 37 of Felton, was transported to Troop 3 in Camden where he was charged with Operating a Clandestine Lab and Possession of Schedule IV pills. He was arraigned before Justice of the Peace Court 7 and committed to James T. Vaughn Correctional Center on a $11,000.00 secured bond.
