Troopers Investigate Gas Station Robbery North of Wilmington

Wilmington, DE- Delaware State Police are currently investigating the robbery of a Wilmington area gas station which occurred late last night.

The initial investigation has determined that the incident occurred last night, Thursday, June 2, 2016, at approximately 11:21 p.m., as a male suspect entered the Exxon gas station located at 5301 Concord Pike, Wilmington. The suspect then walked behind the sales counter where he confronted a male store clerk and demanded money from the cash register. The male employee, however, fled from the sales counter and retreated to the storage area of the business. The suspect, who was armed with a tire iron, then removed a cash drawer from the sales counter and fled from the store in an unknown direction. The clerk was not injured.

The suspect was described as a black male. He was 30-40 years of age, 5’08”-5’10” tall, weighed 230-250 lbs., and was last seen wearing a multi-colored shirt, dark pants, and dark sneakers. There is no further physical or clothing description available.

This incident remains under investigation by the Delaware State Police. Robbery Unit detectives are attempting to determine if the suspect was the same man who committed the robbery of the same business on Wednesday, June 1, 2016.
