Crash Affects Commuters on US 13
Released-Tuesday, June, 24, 2008
New
Castle-On today’s date shortly before 7:00 a.m., Troop 2 patrol
officers responded to the area of southbound US 13 near Old State
Road for reports of a single vehicle crash.
An
investigation revealed that a 1999 Volvo S80 (operated by Dwight
Lacy, 51 of Wilmington) was traveling southbound on US 13 when it
left the west edge of the roadway and struck a telephone pole. The
impact of the crash caused the Volvo to flip onto its roof. The
vehicle came to rest in the right lane of southbound US 13.
Mr. Lacy was
injured as a result of the crash, and was transported by ambulance
to Christiana Hospital. He was treated and later released with
non-life threatening injuries.
Traffic on
US 13 was affected for approximately one hour while the crash was
being investigated and the roadway was being cleaned.
Lacy was
seat belted at the time of the crash, however, he was cited for
inattentive driving.
Alcohol does
not appear to be a factor in the crash. |
