Millsboro
– The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is
investigating a single vehicle crash that claimed a
23-year-old Millsboro mans life. Troopers responded to the
crash on Injun Town Road this morning at 5:51 am after it
was reported a single car went off the road and crashed.
The
investigation has learned a 2004 Oldsmobile was traveling
westbound on Hickory Hill Road (CR 82) bearing onto Injun
Town Road (CR 408), which is a Y like intersection. The
Oldsmobile, which was operated by Christopher T. Mahan, 23
of Millsboro, lost control on Hickory Hill Road before
entering Injun Town Road.
The vehicle
then entered onto Injun Town Road and traveled off the south
edge of the roadway. The Oldsmobile then overcorrected and
exited the north edge of the roadway and collided with a
telephone pole. As a result, the vehicle overturned several
times coming to rest in a crop field on the north edge of
roadway.
Mr. Mahan, who
was the sole occupant, was ejected from the vehicle and
pronounced dead at the scene. Alcohol involvement is unknown
at this time. The roadway was closed for approximately 2
hours as investigators examined the crash scene. It has
since been reopened. The crash remains under investigation.
