Serious
Crash turns into Fatality
Released
Monday, June 16, 2008
Milton –
The Delaware State Police
have learned that one of the persons involved in the crash has died.
Investigators determined an Atlantic Concrete Cement truck,
specifically a 2005 International, was traveling southbound on
Gravel Hill Road (SR 30) approaching Shingle Point Road (CR 249).
The truck was operated by Walter Krout, 49 of Lewes. Mr. Krout did
sustain a minor injury that did not require medical treatment.
A 2003 Ford
Van, owned by Johnny Janosik, was traveling eastbound on Shingle
Point Road approaching Gravel Hill Road. The van failed to stop at a
clearly marked stop sign and entered Gravel Hill Road. As a result
the cement truck struck the Ford van. The operator of the van was
killed in the crash.
Because of the
crash the roadway was closed for approximately 2 ½ hours. It has
since been reopened. Both operators were wearing their seatbelt and
alcohol is not a factor. The identity of the person killed is being
withheld pending notification of next of kin.
