Sunday, June 08, 2008
Milford-
The Delaware State Police
are investigating a single vehicle crash that occurred early this
morning and has left a Milford man in critical condition.
On Sunday, June
08, 2008 at 4:57am, State Police were called to the scene of a one
vehicle crash on Sapp Road just north of Bucks Road near Milford.
Investigators report that a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado pick up truck
was traveling northbound on Sapp Road when the driver lost control,
exited the west edge of the road and entered a grass field. As the
Chevrolet traveled across the field, it began to spin in a counter
clockwise fashion before flipping over two times. As the vehicle
was flipping over, the driver was ejected. Ultimately the Chevrolet
struck a tree after the driver was ejected.
The driver,
identified as Ryan Smith, 21, of Milford, was flown to Christiana
Hospital by the State Police helicopter. Smith remains at
Christiana Hospital in critical condition being treated for a broken
right shoulder, a lacerated spleen, and facial lacerations. Smith
was not wearing his seatbelt and alcohol involvement is a factor in
this crash. The investigation is ongoing. |
