Delmar
– The Delaware State Police are investigating an afternoon
crash that left a 31-year-old Delmar Maryland man in
critical condition. Troopers responded to the three-car
crash today at 4:40 pm on US 13A just south of Allens Mill
Road north of Delmar, after it was reported two cars struck
head on.
Investigators
learned a 2006 Mazda, operated by David C. Milewski, 31 of
Delmar, MD, was traveling northbound on US 13A when it
passed a 2004 Chevy Pick-up, that was also traveling
northbound in front of his vehicle, operated by Richard
Webster, 64 of Laurel.
As the Mazda
was passing the Chevy, a third vehicle was traveling
southbound on US 13A. The Mazda collided head with this
southbound vehicle, a 2005 Kia 4-door, operated by Ruth
Hoover, 71 of Laurel. After the impact, the Mazda then
swerved right striking the Chevy pick-up.
As a result of
the crash, the operator of the Mazda, David Milewski, is
currently in critical condition at PRMC. He was not wearing
a seatbelt and alcohol is suspected as a factor on his
behalf. The operator of the Chevy, Richard Webster, was
wearing a seatbelt and was not injured.
The operator of
the Kia, Ruth Hoover, was admitted to PRMC with multiple
injuries and is in serious condition. She was wearing a
seatbelt. Two passengers in her vehicle, who were seated in
the rear with seatbelts on, were treated and released from
PRMC for minor injuries.
This crash did occur during
heavy rain and as a result, the roadway was closed for
approximately 2 1/2 hours as investigators
examined the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
