Wilmington
– The Delaware State Police are investigating a
motorcycle crash that occurred earlier this
evening on I-95 northbound south of Frawley
Stadium. At approximately 7:19 pm, witnesses
reported to police that a single motorcycle
(2007 Honda B-60) was observed traveling at a
high rate of speed weaving in and out of traffic
when the operator lost control and crashed.
As a result, the
operator was ejected from the motorcycle and
both he and the motorcycle slid off the roadway
striking the metal guardrail. Immediately after
the crash, the operator began walking on I-95
when he was picked up by a passing car and
transported to Wilmington Hospital.
As the
investigation unfolded troopers learned of the
injured man at Wilmington Hospital and have
positively identified him as the operator
involved in the crash. The man was later
transported to Christiana Hospital from
Wilmington Hospital and is currently listed in
serious condition. The identity of the operator
has not been confirmed as police are continuing
the investigation.
Currently, I-95
northbound in the area of the crash is
experiencing traffic delays as troopers examine
the scene. Motorists can expect delays. When
additional information is available, it will be
provided.
