Milton Woman Seriously Injured in Afternoon Crash

Released Monday, March 23, 2009

Milton – The Delaware State Police are currently investigating a crash that has injured two persons.  The crash occurred this evening at approximately 6:30 pm at the intersection of Cave Neck Road (CR 88) and Hudson Road (CR 258).

Investigators learned a 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix, operated by Susan V. Wilkinson, 53 of Milton, was traveling eastbound on Cave Neck Road approaching Hudson Road.  A 1995 Ford Taurus, operated by Lisa M. Cressman, 39 of Milton, was traveling southbound on Hudson Road approaching Cave Neck Road.

Ms. Cressman failed to stop at a visible stop sign on Hudson Road and entered the path of travel of the Grand Prix on Cave Neck Road.  As a result, the two cars collided in the intersection resulting in the crash.  Both persons were injured and transported to Beebe Hospital by ambulance.  Ms. Wilkinson has sustained serious injuries.

Both persons were wearing seatbelts and alcohol is not a factor.  Because of the crash, the roadway was closed for approximately 45 minutes.  The crash remains under investigation.
