 Released Thursday, March 19, 2009

Laurel – The Delaware State Police have arrested Angela N. Groesbeck, 27 of Laurel for several sexual assault charges after an investigation into an alleged sexual complaint revealed she had engaged in illegal sexual acts with three separate juvenile boys.

The investigation began on March 12, 2009 when the mother of a 15-year-old boy was viewing her son’s My Space account and discovered some alarming statements on the account. The mother found a conversation on the site that insinuated her son was sexually involved with an older woman who utilized a screen name of I LOVE MY SHAWTY.

The mother learned from her son that this person was Angela Groesbeck and that she was a neighbor of the boy’s father who lived at a separate location in Laurel. Police conducted and interview with the victim and discovered he knew Groesbeck from visiting his father’s home in Laurel Village. Additionally, it was discovered that the pair had sexual relations on February 28, 2009 at Groesbeck’s home. Groesbeck was subsequently arrested on March 13 and committed to the Delores J Baylor Woman’s Correctional Center in lieu of bail.

As investigators continued the investigation, they discovered that Groesbeck also had sexual relations with two other juveniles. In this case, detectives learned she engaged in elicit sexual conduct with two 14-year-old Laurel boys on several occasions between March 21, 2008 and February 28, 2009. All of these occurred at her home on Ponderosa Avenue.

Because of the investigation, Groesbeck was charged with five counts of Rape Third Degree and eight counts of Unlawful Sexual Contact Second Degree. She remains incarcerated at the Correctional Center in lieu of a $40,000 secured bond.
