Bridgeville
- The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is
investigating a fatal crash that occurred early this morning
at approximately 1:05 am. Police responded to the area of
Atlanta Road just north of Dublin Hill Road after a single
vehicle crash was reported.
Investigators
learned a 2006 GMC Envoy operated by Daniel Georges, 30 of
Baltimore, Maryland was traveling northbound on Atlanta Road
crossing over the intersection of Dublin Hill Road (note:
there is a stop sign at this intersection). The
investigation reveled the Envoy did not stop for the stop
sign of Atlanta Road, which controls the intersection.
The Envoy lost
control as it crossed over the intersection exiting the east
edge of Atlanta Road north of Dublin Hill Road traveling
into a ditch. The Chevy overturned numerous times and came
to rest on its roof when it collided with a telephone pole.
As a result of
the crash, Mr. Georges who was the only occupant in the
vehicle, was killed. He was wearing a seatbelt and alcohol
use is unknown at this time. The crash remains under
investigation.
