State Police Search for Man
after He Attempted to Lure Girl into Car

Lincoln
– The Delaware State Police are investigating the attempted
Kidnapping of a 14-year-old Lincoln girl. Troopers responded
to the girl’s residence yesterday afternoon after 911 was
called reporting the incident.
Troopers
learned the 14-year-old girl was walking alone on
Staytonville Road just west of US 113, yesterday, March 14,
2008 at approximately 4:30 pm when a maroon vehicle
approached her. The sole occupant and operator pulled the
vehicle next to her, stopped the car, and asked if she
wanted a ride. The victim informed the subject she was o.k.
and began to walk away when the subject, who was seated in
the vehicle, grabbed her arm and tried to pull her in the
vehicle.
The victim was
able to break free from the grasp and run into a nearby
wooded area. The vehicle fled the area. The victim, who was
not injured, described the suspect as a heavy set black
male, between 30 to 40 years of age, balding wearing a black
t-shirt. The victim described the car as an older "beat up"
4-door sedan, maroon in color with white paint spots on the
hood. No further description was provided.
The Delaware
State Police would like to encourage to the public to pay
special attention to the vehicle description, as it is
unique by having the white paint spots on the hood. Anyone
who may have information on the vehicle, this crime and/or
anyone who may have experienced a similar incident are urged
