State Police Search for Man after He Attempted to Lure Girl into Car

Released Saturday, March 15, 2008

Lincoln – The Delaware State Police are investigating the attempted Kidnapping of a 14-year-old Lincoln girl. Troopers responded to the girl’s residence yesterday afternoon after 911 was called reporting the incident.

Troopers learned the 14-year-old girl was walking alone on Staytonville Road just west of US 113, yesterday, March 14, 2008 at approximately 4:30 pm when a maroon vehicle approached her. The sole occupant and operator pulled the vehicle next to her, stopped the car, and asked if she wanted a ride. The victim informed the subject she was o.k. and began to walk away when the subject, who was seated in the vehicle, grabbed her arm and tried to pull her in the vehicle.

The victim was able to break free from the grasp and run into a nearby wooded area. The vehicle fled the area. The victim, who was not injured, described the suspect as a heavy set black male, between 30 to 40 years of age, balding wearing a black t-shirt. The victim described the car as an older "beat up" 4-door sedan, maroon in color with white paint spots on the hood. No further description was provided.

The Delaware State Police would like to encourage to the public to pay special attention to the vehicle description, as it is unique by having the white paint spots on the hood. Anyone who may have information on the vehicle, this crime and/or anyone who may have experienced a similar incident are urged to contact investigators at 302.856.5850 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333.
