Dover
– The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is
investigating a serious crash that occurred early this morning at
approximately 5:00 am on Sorghum Mill Road west of Locust Grove
Road.
Investigators
learned a 1995 Ford Ranger pick-up was traveling eastbound on
Sorghum Mill Road. For an unknown reason the vehicle crossed over
the opposite lane of travel and veered onto the westbound shoulder
and struck the front of an unoccupied, legally parked, tractor
trailer. The tractor trailer was a 2007 Kenworth Truck.
As a result of
the crash, the operator Krystal Altman, 18 of Dover, sustained
injuries and has been admitted to Kent General Hospital in stable
condition. A front seat passenger, John Lee, 27 of Dover, has been
admitted to Christiana hospital with critical injuries.
Alcohol is a
factor in the crash and seatbelt use is currently unknown. The crash
remains under investigation and charges are expected to be placed
against Ms. Altman.
