Suspect Fled After Vehicle Theft and Crash – Attempt to Locate

Dover-
On Saturday, January 26, 2008, at approximately 2 am, Troopers
attempted to stop a silver 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix traveling
southbound on State Route 1 in the area of the Dover Air Force
Base for excessive speeding. A Trooper in a fully marked patrol
vehicle activated his lights and siren in an attempt to stop the
vehicle. The vehicle failed to stop.
While attempting to avoid police
contact the operator later identified as Franklin D. Harrison,
20, of the South Queen Street, Dover, lost control of the
Pontiac on South Governors Boulevard, Capitol Park, Dover. The
car overturned after striking a utility pole. Harrison ran from
the car has not been located.
This investigation revealed that
the suspect was driving the vehicle without permission from the
owner. The owner of the vehicle reported that Harrison removed
the keys to the car without permission.
Harrison
has active warrants for several counts of Aggravated Menacing
and Possession of a Firearm during Commission of a Felony from a
September 2007 incident. Harrison also has active warrants as a
result of the January 26th incident for Unauthorized
Use of a Motor Vehicle, Failure to Obey Command of Police
Officer and numerous other traffic charges.
