Traffic Stop
Yields Large Amount of Marijuana – Greenwood Man Arrested

Seaford
– The Delaware State Police have arrested a 31 year old Greenwood
man for drug offenses after he was stopped for speeding on Old
Furnace Road.
Last evening at
approximately 8:44 pm, a patrol trooper assigned to Troop 5 was
conducting a stationary radar assignment on Old Furnace Road when he
observed a Ford F-150 pick-up traveling 55 mph in a marked 35 mph
zone. The trooper conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle on Old
Furnace Road just west of Middleford Road.
The trooper
contacted the sole occupant and driver, Clayton C. Yocum Jr., 31 of
Greenwood, and learned he was operating the vehicle with a suspended
driver’s license. Additionally, the trooper detected an odor of
marijuana coming from within the vehicle. Consequently, the trooper
who was a K-9 officer, retrieved his drug trained K-9 and conducted
an exterior search of the vehicle. The dog alerted to the passenger
side door indicating it smelled the odor of an illegal narcotic.
The trooper
continuing the investigation located a black plastic bag on the
floor behind the passenger seat. Inside were two plastic bags
containing marijuana; one had 458 grams and the other had 460 grams
totaling 918 grams.
As a result of
the traffic stop, Mr. Yocum was arrested for Possession with Intent
to Deliver Marijuana, Maintaining a Vehicle for Keeping Controlled
Substances, 2 counts of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Driving on
a Suspended License and Speeding.
