Man Injured After Crashing into House

Millsboro
– The Delaware State Police are currently investigating a crash that
resulted after a 75 year old Millsboro resident drove his pick-up
truck through the front porch of Clark Avenue home.
Troopers
responded to 28483 Clarke Avenue, Oak Orchard area, at 2:30 pm today
after it was reported a 2004 Dodge Ram pick-up struck the two-story
unoccupied home. Investigators learned the vehicle, which was
operated by William R. Greenwald, was traveling southbound on Clarke
Avenue when it veered off the east edge of the road and struck the
home. After impacting the front porch the truck continued through
the front yard overturning onto the driver’s side.
As a result of
the crash, Mr. Greenwald sustained serious injuries and was flown by
DSP helicopter to Christiana Hospital. It should be known the
injuries are not life-threatening.
Preliminary
investigation suggests an unknown medical condition may have
contributed to the crash.
Alcohol is not
suspected as a factor and seatbelt use is currently unknown. Due to
the severe damage to the home, County code enforcement officials
have responded to the scene to assess the conditions.
The crash
remains under investigation.
