UPDATE FATAL CRASH The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit has identified the person killed in the crash as Mangalbhai Patel, 49 of Camden, Delaware. He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics after it was discovered the Acura struck the tree in the area of the drivers door. Alcohol is not suspected as a factor in the crash and Mr. Patel was wearing a seatbelt. Due to the crash the right lane of US 13 was closed for approximately 2 1/2 hours. The roadway has been fully reopened. The crash remains under investigation. State Police Investigate Fatal Crash Released Friday, January 04, 2008 Felton – The Delaware State Police are currently on scene of a fatal crash that occurred today at approximately 2:54 pm. Troopers responded to the area of US 13 southbound just north of Paradise Alley Road after it was reported a single vehicle went off the roadway and struck a tree. Troopers learned a 1999 Acura Integra was travelling southbound in the right lane when for an unknown it exited the roadway and entered a wooded area and indeed did strike a tree. As a result of the crash the sole occupant and driver was killed. This is an ongoing investigation and when additional details become available they will be provided. Motorists can expect moderate delays in the area as the right lane is temporarily closed as investigators examine the scene. ###
