State Police Investigating Death of Dover Couple

Dover – The Delaware State Police Homicide Unit is currently investigating the death of a Dover couple. Today at approximately 4:00 pm, troopers responded to a residence located in the 200 block of Massey Drive, Dover after a call was placed to 911 alerting the discovery of two dead bodies.

Investigators learned a neighbor who resided in the area of the Massey Drive home went to the residence today to check on Valerie Gunther, 58 and Morgan Gunther, 67, both of Dover after they have not been seen or heard from since last evening at approximately 9:15 pm.

The neighbor discovered both Mr. and Mrs. Gunther deceased in their bedroom and called 911 immediately. Preliminary investigation reveals both subjects died as a result of single gunshot wounds.

Investigators have recovered a handgun from the scene and have located no indications of forced entry to the home. This investigation is in its infancy and when additional information becomes available it will be promptly released to the media.

Both deceased persons have been turned over to the State Medical Examiner for further investigation. No additional information is available at this time.
