Viola
– The Delaware State Police are currently investigating a single car
fatal crash that occurred last evening at approximately 11:45 pm in
the town of Viola.
Troopers
responded to the crash in the area of Main Street (Turkey Point Rd),
Viola after it was reported a vehicle struck several homes and
crashed ejecting the operator in a post office parking lot.
The
investigation revealed a 2003 Acura CL was traveling northbound on
Main Street in the town limits

vehicle lost control and skidded off the east edge of the roadway
striking a road sign.
The vehicle
continued in a northerly direction striking a set of front steps to
a residence on Main Street. Afterward, the vehicle continued in a
northern direction striking a porch of a second residence and
another porch of a third residence. After striking the third home
the operator was ejected from the car onto the parking lot of the
Viola Post Office. The Acura continued northbound traveling across
the roadway where it came to rest.

was not wearing a seatbelt. As a result of the crash the roadway was
shut down for approximately two hours. Speed was a factor in the
crash; however, the collision remains under investigation. Alcohol
use is currently unknown.

homes struck were occupied. No persons were injured. Two homes
sustained structural damage that required code enforcement officials
to respond to the scene.
