Dover Drug Bust Results in Recovery
of Cocaine and Stolen Gun

Dover
– Last evening at approximately 8:00 pm, members of Kent County
Governors Task Force and the Kent County Drug Unit concluded a
two-month investigation into the illegal distribution of narcotics
from a residence on West Denny’s Rd.
During During the investigation,
troopers identified Carlton Handy Jr, 26 of the 5900 block of
W. Denney’s Rd, Dover as a person distributing cocaine. Last night a
search warrant was executed on his residence in which 13.7 grams of
powdered cocaine, 1.1 grams of marijuana, packaging materials, a
digital scale, $225 cash, and a .22 caliber Colt revolver were
recovered.
Investigation
into the firearm revealed it was stolen from a residential burglary
that occurred at a home on Squawigm Road in Leipsic in November
2008.
As a result of
the investigation, Carlton Handy Jr. was arrested and charged
with Trafficking Cocaine, Possession With Intent to Deliver Cocaine,
Maintaining a Dwelling for Keeping Controlled Substances, Possession
of a Firearm by Person Prohibited, Possession of Firearm Ammunition
by Person Prohibited, Possession of a Firearm During Commission of a
Felony, Receiving a Stolen Firearm, and Possession of Drug
Paraphernalia. He was committed to JTVCC on a $142,500 cash bond.
In addition, Verneka
M. Cornish, 22 of Salisbury, MD was inside the home during the
execution of the warrant and was found to be in possession of 1.1
grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was
arrested and charged with those offenses and released on a $1500.00
unsecured bond.
