Released
Monday, December 08, 2008
Camden –
Wyoming – The Delaware
State Police are currently investigating a shooting that occurred
this morning at approximately 10:00 am on Honeysuckle Road just
north of Mud Mill Road west of Camden-Wyoming.
Troopers
responded to the area after 911 was called by the victim reporting
he had been shot by an unknown white male. The investigation has
revealed the victim, a 26 year old Camden man, was traveling in his
vehicle on Honeysuckle Road when he observed a green Mercury Sable
driving in the area. The victim informed detectives that he was
involved in a physical altercation yesterday with an unknown subject
that operated a green Mercury Sable. This altercation, which was not
reported to police, took place in the Camden Wal-Mart.
Based on the
victims observations, when he observed the Sable today traveling on
Honeysuckle Road he thought the vehicle was the same one occupied by
the subject he was involved with the day before. The victim was able
to follow the Sable and get it to stop on the roadside.
The victim
exited his vehicle armed with a pipe and confronted the operator of
the Sable. The other operator (suspect) exited his vehicle and
engaged in a verbal altercation with the victim at which point the
suspect produced a handgun and proceeded to shoot the victim one
time in the upper right chest. The suspect then fled in the Mercury
Sable.
The victim was
able to get back into his vehicle and drove to his home in the
immediate area and called 911. The victim was later flown by DSP
helicopter to Christiana Hospital where he is being treated for a
single gun shot wound. He is listed in stable condition.
The suspect –
who the victim says is not the person he was involved with yesterday
at the Wal-Mart - has been described as a white male, 6’00” tall,
approximately 180 lbs, light brown hair crew cut style, mustache,
side-burns, wearing a brown zip-up winter jacket with no hood that
had an unknown patch on the front and black baggie pants.
This incident remains under investigation and when additional
information becomes available it will be released. Anyone with
