Friday, November 28, 2008
Magnolia
– The Delaware State Police have arrested two Felton men for their
role in several serious crimes that culminated with the shooting of
a 34 year old Magnolia woman.
Last evening at
approximately 7:10 pm, troopers were called to the unit block of
Draper Circle, in Meadowbrook Acres, Magnolia for a report of a
woman shot. As the investigation unfolded, investigators learned a
34 year old woman and a 30 year old male were inside the mobile home
when a vehicle drove past the residence and fired multiple rounds
into the home. The male and female, who resided in the home, were
not injured.
A few minutes
later, the same vehicle drove by the home again and fired additional
rounds into the home this time striking the female in the left leg
as she was sitting in a bedroom. The male was not injured and the
woman suffered a severe leg injury and was subsequently taken by
ambulance to Kent General Hospital and later transferred to
Christiana Hospital and is currently in stable condition.
Evidence
technicians were able to recover several spent casings at the scene
that came from a .22 caliber gun and a 9 mm handgun. They also
recovered .22 caliber bullets from inside the home. Additionally,
investigators were able to identify several witnesses to the
shooting and learned that the suspects were operating a dark colored
Scion TC. One suspect was a white male wearing a light colored
camouflage jacket and the other was black male. One weapon was
described as a rifle with a scope on it after witnesses observed one
of the suspects shooting at the home through the sun roof on the
vehicle.
As this
investigation was underway, DSP learned of active shooting incident
that Harrington Police Department was investigating. In their case,
a vehicle was shot numerous times by a .22 caliber and 9 mm gun.
These matched the caliber of the weapons utilized in our
investigation.
As Harrington
PD was investigating they developed a suspect and subsequently
responded to a residence on Spectrum Farms Road where they located a
dark colored Scion TC and the two subjects believed to have been
involved in our shooting. They were apprehended and taken into
custody. For additional details on the apprehension and the
Harrington Police Departments investigation please see attached
press release from Chief Mark Anderson.
Police were
able to recover two weapons from the suspects, a .22 caliber Marlin
Rifle and a 9 mm handgun. These are the weapons believed to have
been used in the crimes.
Furthermore, as
DSP was continuing their investigation they were able to
successfully link these two subjects to an armed robbery that
occurred at the Shore Stop located at 12894 S. DuPont Hwy. This
robbery occurred on November 26, 2008 at 4:10 am and involved the
suspects robbing the store at gunpoint and receiving an undisclosed
amount of money. The description of the suspects included one of
them wearing a light colored camouflage jacket and in possession of
