Four Injured in Early Morning Crash

Released Tuesday, July 29, 2008

Dover – The Delaware State Police are investigating an early morning crash that injured four people including one that was ejected. Police responded to the two-car crash located at Hazlettville Rd and Rose Valley School Rd this morning at 5:56 am after it was reported two vehicles had been involved in a serious crash.

Investigators learned a 2004 Dodge Ram Pick-up, operated by Michael Graham, 22 of Dover, was traveling westbound on Hazletville Road approaching Rose Valley School Rd. The pick-up was pulling an unoccupied utility trailer. A 1994 Saturn 2-door, operated by Estella Perez, 29 of Marydel, MD was stopped at the stop sign on Rose Valley School Rd waiting to turn left onto Hazletville Rd. For an unknown reason the Saturn pulled out in front of the pick-up causing the crash.

As a result of the crash, a right rear passenger in the Saturn, Aron Garcia, 19 of Marydel, Md was ejected. He was flown by DSP helicopter to Christiana Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the Saturn, Ms. Perez and another passenger, Florinda Morales, 25 of Marydel, MD were also flown to Christiana Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. A final passenger, Oline Barris, 40 from Marydel, MD was transported to Kent General Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

All parties were wearing seatbelts with the exception of Mr. Garcia. Alcohol was not a factor and Ms. Perez was charged with Driving without a valid license and Failure to Yield. Mr. Graham was not injured.
