Random Shooting
in Capitol
Park
Released- Sunday,
July 27, 2008
Dover-
Detectives from Delaware State Police Troop 3 are investigating a
shooting that occurred just before midnight in the
Capitol
Park development on July
26th. Capitol Park is a residential home community.
At approximately
11:57 p.m., Troopers were called to the 100 block of
South Governors Boulevard for the report of
a subject who suffered from a gunshot wound to the chest. The
victim, a 27-year-old male subject, was flown from the scene to
Christiana
Hospital where he is
currently admitted in ICU in stable condition.
This investigation
revealed five male subjects reside in this home where the shooting
occurred. At approximately 10:00 p.m., a knock came from the front
door. One of the residents responded to the door and answered
same. He was greeted by a black male child- about 10 or 12 years
old. The resident who answered the door was unable to communicate
with the child because of a language barrier- no one in the house
speaks English- so he shut the door.
About two hours
later (11:57 p.m.) a second knock came from the front door. The
victim in this case answered the door and was greeted by two black
male adult subjects. Again, because of a language barrier, the
victim was unable to communicate with these subjects. Seconds
later, the other residents of the home heard a single gun shot.
They ran to the front door where they found their housemate lying on
the floor bleeding from the chest.
Detectives have not
established a motive for this shooting and with the information they
have at hand, it appears random. There is no additional suspect
information available as the only person to see the suspects was the
victim.
