Released-February-18, 2008

Dover-On Sunday, February17th, shortly after 4:00 a.m., Troop 3 patrol officers responded to the area of Peachtree Road and Jeffrey Drive for reports of  a serious injury crash involving a single vehicle.

Upon arrival, Troopers learned a 2005 Chevrolet Cavalier, operated by Devron D. Powell, 27, of Dover was traveling southbound on Peachtree Road, and for unknown reasons left the roadway.  A further investigation revealed that the Cavalier struck a utility pole and continued into a ditch.  The Cavalier became airborne and struck a shed and mobile home (at #10 Jeffrey Drive) prior to landing on its side in the grassy area and becoming engulfed in flames.

White was ejected and treated at the scene prior to being transported by ambulance, to Kent General Hospital.  White was treated for non-life threatening injuries.  Drugs may have contributed to the crash.

A 27-year Magnolia man (occupant of #10 Jeffrey Drive) sustained non-life threatening injuries from debris falling into the mobile home and was transported to Kent General Hospital where he was treated and released for non-life threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
