North Wilmington- On today’s date, at 11:06 a.m., Troopers
were called to the area of Shipley Road north of Foulk Road for the
report of a three vehicle crash.
A 2007 Kia Amante (operated by Fred Grossi of Wilmington) was
stopped northbound on Shipley Road preparing to turn left into his
driveway. He was waiting for traffic to clear so that he could make
the turn.
A 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe (operated by Carra Breen of Wilmington)
approached the Kia from behind and rear ended same for the initial
impact.
After this first crash, the Tahoe veered left into the southbound
lane of travel at which time it struck the side of a 2003 Mack dump
truck (operated by Michael Morehart of Bear). The impact ruptured
the fuel tank of the dump truck resulting in a fuel leakage and road
closure.
Ms. Breen was transported to Wilmington Hospital where she was
treated and released for a cut to her lip. She was cited with
Inattentive Driving.
No other injuries were reported. The road is still closed at this
time. It is unknown when it will re-open. An additional release will
be provided when the road opens.
