Update #2- The Hunch was Right On
Bear Area Bank Robbery

Bear- Investigators had a hunch the bank robber was still
in Becks Woods and they turned out to be right. On today’s date, the
Delaware State Police has arrested Lamir Handy, 21, of Grand Teton
Court, in Becks Woods, in Bear, in connection to the Bank Robbery
yesterday at the WSFS in the Fox Run Shopping Center.
Late last evening, investigators received a tip call in which the
Handy was named as the suspect in this heist. Investigators also
learned that he was still in Becks Woods and had hid the car, a
black Honda Accord, in his garage on Grand Teton Drive. Detectives
converged on the residence and took Handy into custody without
incident. A computer check also revealed he was on probation.
Lamir Handy was formally charged this morning with Robbery 1st
and Possession of a Deadly Weapon during the Commission of a Felony.
He was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institute in lieu of
$60,000.00 cash only bail.
Investigators are asking anyone who had seen Handy after the
robbery to call them at 302-834-2630 ext 6.
Bear Area Bank Robbery

Bear-
On today’s date, at
approximately 12:00 noon, Troopers were called to the WSFS Bank
located in the Fox Run Shopping Center in reference to an armed bank
robbery.
This
investigation revealed a male suspect literally ran into the bank,
jumped over the service counter and held the tellers at bay with a
shotgun. The suspect had one of the clerks load an undisclosed
amount of money into a backpack. The suspect ran out of the bank as
quickly as he came in. He fled eastbound on Route 40 operating a
dark colored mid-90’s Honda.
The suspect was
believed to have possibly fled into the development of Becks Woods.
State Troopers, accompanied by New Castle County Police Officers,
searched the area; however, the suspect was not located. The search
was cancelled at approximately 1:30 p.m. The New Castle County
Police issued a reverse 911 call to the residents of Becks Woods to
make them aware of the situation.
The suspect is
described as a black male, 6’01” to 6’03” tall, thin build, black
hat, boots, and dark sweat-shirt. He was armed with a shotgun.
