Stabbing at the Gold Club on South Market Street
Released- Friday, June 06, 2008
Wilmington- On Friday, June 6th, at approximately 1:30
a.m., a large fight broke out in the Gold Club (1031 South Market
Street). It is unknown what prompted the mêlée. The fight began to
disperse when a male victim was observed "staggering" from the
crowd.
Two subjects recognized the victim from their neighborhood, and
assisted him in getting outside of the establishment. Once outside,
it was apparent that this victim was seriously injured and a
decision was made to transport the victim to Wilmington Hospital.
The staff at Wilmington Hospital stabilized the victim and
transported him to Christiana Hospital. He had evidently suffered a
severe trauma as doctors determined he sustained approximately 6
stab wounds, 4 to the back, and 2 to the front of his body, one of
which lacerated his heart. Although his injuries are serious, it is
believed they are currently not life threatening.
Investigators have not been able to determine a motive for this
stabbing or develop any suspects. Anyone who may have information
pertaining to this case is asked to call investigators at
302-834-2630 ext. 209 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333.
