Wilmington-
On Sunday, June 1, 2008,
at 5:43 p.m., a Troopers assigned to Troop 6 was on routine patrol
on Maryland Avenue at Route 100 when he spotted a subject he was
familiar with driving in a 1999 Toyota Tacoma. The driver was later
identified as Jacob Wilt, 46, of Lorewood Avenue in the Elmhurst
development of Wilmington. A computer check confirmed the officer’s
suspicion that Wilt was a suspended driver.
The Trooper
activated his emergency equipment; however, Wilt did not pull over
right away. Wilt was observed throwing objects out of the window.
He then stopped his vehicle and the Trooper took him into custody.
The officer walked back to the area the objects were seen being
thrown from the car. Here, the Trooper located eight packages of
suspected heroin stamped King Kong and Poison. These contents of
the packages field tested positive for the presence of heroin.
This
investigation also revealed Wilt displayed a fictitious tag on the
back of his Toyota and that the vehicle was not insured. Also, this
truck was not registered properly.
Jacob Wilt was
formally charged with Possession of Heroin (misdemeanor), Tampering
with Evidence (felony), Driving while Suspended (traffic offense),
Fictitious Registration Plate (traffic offense) and Operating an
Unregistered Motor Vehicle (traffic offense).
Jacob Wilt was
arraigned and released on $1,200.00 unsecured bond.
