Update #2 Fatal Crash on Route 4
Released- Tuesday, May 13, 2008
Five Points- A second person has died as a result of the
crash which occurred on Route 4 at Champlain Avenue on May the 4th.
Doris M. Starr, 79, of Wilmington, was pronounced dead Sunday
evening, May the 11th, at Christiana Hospital.
The driver of the Honda, Eduardo Rodriguez, 21, of Virginia
Avenue in Wilmington, was formally charged on May the 5th with
Disregarding a Traffic Control Device (traffic violation), Driving
without a License (traffic violation) and Operating a Motor Vehicle
Causing Death of Another Person (misdemeanor). Additional charges
are now pending as a result of the death of Ms. Starr. Rodriguez is
scheduled for a preliminary hearing tomorrow in New Castle County.

Update #1 Fatal Crash on Route 4

Five Points- The operator of the 1992 Honda has been
identified as Eduardo Rodriguez, 21, of Wilmington. He was
transported to Christiana Hospital and admitted in serious
condition.
The operator of the 1998 Saturn has been identified as Doris
Grant, 76, of Wilmington. She was transported and admitted to
Christiana Hospital in serious condition.
A passenger in the Saturn, Dorothy Marciniszyn, 83, of
Wilmington, died as a result of the injuries she sustained during
this crash. Also a passenger in this car was Doris Starr, 79, of
Wilmington. Ms. Starr was critically injured and is currently in
serious condition at Christiana Hospital.
Investigators have determined the Honda ran a red light and
struck the Honda. Also, they learned that Mr. Rodriguez is not a
licensed driver. Alcohol is not a factor in this crash.
This crash remains under investigation and no charges have been
filed as of yet.

Preliminary News Release- Fatal Crash on Route 4

Five Points- The Delaware State Police Collision
Reconstruction Unit is currently on the scene of a fatal crash on
Route 4 at Champlain Avenue. This incident was reported today's date
at approximately 3:00 p.m.
The crash involved two vehicles- a Honda Accord and a Saturn
sedan. The Honda was traveling eastbound on Route 4 approaching
Champlain Avenue. The Saturn was southbound on Champlain and entered
the intersection with Route 4 when it was struck by the Honda.
There is a traffic signal at this intersection and investigators
are still determining who had the right of way.
A female occupant in the Saturn was pronounced dead at the scene.
An additional release will be forthcoming later this evening once
the details of the crash are known an confirmed.
The roadway is shut down at this time, however, traffic is able
to navigate around the crash scene by traveling through the adjacent
neighborhoods.
