On Wednesday, May 7th,
at approximately 3:50 p.m., Troopers responded to Lancaster Avenue
north of Greenhill Avenue for the report of a crash in which a
pedestrian was struck.
A 1995 Mazda
626 (operated by Capri Wallace, 29, of East 24th
Street in Wilmington) was traveling eastbound on Lancaster Avenue
approaching Greenhill Avenue in the right lane. A pedestrian
(identified as Galinda Cortez, 30, of Greenhill Avenue)
attempted to travel southbound across Lancaster Avenue to maker her
way to a DART bus stop. She ran directly into the path of the Mazda
626.
Ms.
Cortez was transported to Christiana Hospital with serious, but
non-life threatening injuries. She was cited with Crossing the
Street at a Location other Than a Crosswalk.
