Husband and
Wife Copper Bandits Caught in the Act
Released-
Tuesday, April 15, 2008
Glasgow-
Early in the morning on
April 14th, Angela Reeves (27), of Windward Court in
Elkton, was at the Court of Common Pleas in Wilmington. She left
the courthouse with her husband- Travis Reeves (27) and the two
apparently made their way south- to a residence along the 2700 block
of Pulaski Highway in Glasgow.
Here the two
forced open the rear door to the home and responded to the basement
where they cut copper tubing from the homes infrastructure using a
hacksaw. The bandits then staged the copper adjacent to the back
door… preparing to load same into the trunk of their car- which was
back up next to the home.
Unfortunately
for these thieves, the owner of this residence also owns an adjacent
business. This owner’s employees took notice to the strange vehicle
parked at their boss’s home. The employees made their way over
toward the crime scene where they startled the two bandits. The
suspects jumped into their car and started back in the direction of
Cecil County Maryland.
One of the
aforementioned employees gave chase in his own vehicle, however,
lost the suspect vehicle somewhere in Elkton. This employee spotted
a Cecil County Sheriff on Frenchtown Road in Maryland and stopped to
advise this officer as to the happenings in Delaware. Just as he was
providing a description of the suspect vehicle to the officer, a
green Oldsmobile with the truck lid open, the suspects drove past.
The Cecil County Sheriff stopped the Oldsmobile and took its
occupants into custody without incident.
Delaware State
Police detectives handling this case completed arrests warrants for
Angela and Travis Reeves. They are currently being held in Maryland
pending extradition back to Delaware. Upon their return, they face
the following changes: Burglary (felony), Attempted Theft (felony),
Possession of Burglar’s Tools (felony), Conspiracy 2nd
(felony) and Criminal Mischief (misdemeanor). |
