Abingdon Maryland Resident Travels over 600 Times Through Delaware Tolls Without Paying

Released- Tuesday, April 15, 2008

Newark- The Delaware State Police, in conjunction with representatives from DelDOT, have concluded an investigation into a subject who had traveled 633 times through Delaware Tolls without paying.

Troopers have implicated Frank Maier, 55, of Abingdon, Maryland, into this crime in which Maier did not pay $4,748.00 in toll fees.  Between the dates of January 2, 2005 through October 30, 2007, it is alleged that Maier would primarily use the I-95 toll plaza, which is just north of the Delaware / Maryland Line. He was travel through the E-Z Pass only lanes to avoid having to stop and pay the fees.

Warrants were completed and on April 14th, Frank Maier voluntarily turned himself in to authorities. He was arraigned and released on a $2,000.00 unsecured bail.

Cpl/1 Jeff Whitmarsh says, “This is a crime against all motorists that do the right thing and pay the associated fees when they travel on Delaware’s toll roads. This is not an instance where a motorist simply forgot to pay- I think the 633 times he did not pay says it all.”
