It took less than 15-Minutes… Bank
Robbery Suspect Identified After On-Line Posting

Yesterday afternoon, at
approximately 4:46 p.m., the Delaware State Police disseminated a
news release concerning a bank robbery, which occurred at the
Wachovia Bank, in Governors Square. As this information made its
way to area media sources, detectives were actively working the
case. The information pertaining to the bank robbery was posted on
various news web sites, and in less than 15-minutes after
these postings, calls came into investigators identifying
the suspect.
Detectives were able to compare a
photograph on file of the subject callers were identifying, to that
of the bank surveillance pictures, and confirm that they had their
man. Warrants were then completed for Claude K. Mitchell, 46, of
the 700 block of Pulaski Highway.
Investigators teamed up and headed
out to search for Mitchell. They eventually found him at his home
and took him into custody without incident. Evidence was located at
his residence also tying him to the heist.
Mitchell was formally charged with
Robbery 1st and committed to the Howard Young
Correctional Institute in lieu of $30,000.00 secured bail.
Governors Square Bank Robbery

On April 10th, at approximately 12:30 p.m. Troopers were called to a
robbery alarm at the Wachovia Bank, in Governors Square on Route
40.
In this case a white male suspect
entered the bank and approached a teller. He presented a demand note
to the bank employee and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.
The Suspect was last seen fleeing in a dark gray Toyota Camry style
vehicle with New Jersey tags.
The suspect is described as a white
male, approximately 50-year-old, approx 5'08", heavy build,
noticeable injury/droopy right eye, gray hair, gray full beard
