Purse Snatching in Claymont

Released- Thursday, April 3, 2008

Claymont- On April 2nd, at 5:28 p.m., Troopers investigated a strong arm robbery (purse snatching) that occurred at the Superfresh at 2105 Philadelphia Pike Claymont DE. 

In this case, a 59-year-old female was in the parking lot preparing to open the trunk of her car when a black male suspect came up from behind her and forcibly removed her purse from her shoulder.  The suspect then fled the scene on foot.

The suspect in this case was described by the witness as a black male, 17-25 years of age, 5’10-6’00”, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black pants.

The victim received and injury to her left shoulder during the incident.  She did not require medical assistance.
