Maryland Avenue Convenience Store Robbed
Released- Tuesday, April 2, 2008
Five Points- On April 1st, at approximately 5:40
p.m., Troopers responded to the Tienda Cristo Rey convenience store,
301 S. Maryland Avenue, in reference to a robbery complaint.
This investigation
revealed that sometime after 5:00 p.m., the owner of the business,
who was working by herself, locked the front door to the store
because she was going to be in the back for a few minutes. While
she was in the back the victim advised she heard glass shatter,
followed by a loud thud. She walked back up front to investigate
the noise at which time a male subject walked up behind her.
Before she could turn around the victim felt an unknown object
pushing against her at which time this suspect demanded cash.
The suspect forced
the victim toward the cash register where she removed an undisclosed
amount of money. She turned this money over to the suspect who fled
the business on foot and continued in an easterly direction on
Maryland Avenue. It was later discovered the suspect made entry
into the store via a rear window.
The suspect was
only described as a male, unknown race, 5’10” to 5’11” tall, 175 –
185 pounds, thin build and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, jeans
and gloves.
