New Castle-
On April 2, 2008, at shortly before 8:00 p.m., two Probation and
Parole Officers were eating at the Seasons Pizza (903 North DuPont
Highway, New Castle) when a subject identified as Jeffrey Krahn, 24,
last known to reside in the Glasgow area, entered the dining room.
One of the probation officers recognized Krahn as a subject
currently wanted by Probation and Parole for violating his
probation. Krahn apparently also took notice to the officers and in
turn walked out of the dining room and outside into the parking
lot.
The Probation
and Parole Officers followed Krahn outside and ordered him to stop.
He ignored their commands and got into a red or maroon Honda
Ridgeline, bearing a Pennsylvania registration plate. As Krahn
began to pull away, one of the officers was struck by the Honda.
The two Probation and Parole Officers then fired several shots at
Krahn’s vehicle as he drove at the second officer. The second
officer was then struck by the Honda head on and landed on the
truck’s hood. The vehicle then came to a sudden stop at which time
the second probation officer was thrown to the ground striking his
head on the pavement.
Jeffrey Krahn
fled the scene southbound on Route 13 and his whereabouts are
currently unknown. It is also unknown if he is injured. He is
believed to have ties to Glasgow, Elkton and Wilmington. Krahn is
currently wanted on several capiases and is also wanted by the New
Castle County Police for a weapons violation. He is described as a
white male, 5’11”, 170 pounds with red hair and blue eyes.
The injured
officer was rushed from the scene to Christiana Hospital where he
was last listed in good condition.
