Five Month Long Investigation Results in Three Arrested for Graffiti Related Crimes

Released- Wednesday, March 26, 2008

Prices Corner- It has been reported in the media extensively for quite some time....  Reports of graffiti and its effects on communities have been provided to the public along the promise from the State Police that we will continue to investigate these crimes with diligence.

Today, the Delaware State Police is announcing three more arrests in this fight to keep our communities clean.  A five month long investigation concluded as two brothers and a friend of theirs were formally charged with graffiti related crimes.  All three subjects are students at Stanton Middle School and are also juveniles.  Because these crimes are misdemeanors their names are being withheld.

The two brothers, 12 and 14-years-old, reside along Centerville Road in Wilmington.  The twelve year old boy was charged with 23 graffiti related crimes and was turned back over to a parent pending a Family Court hearing.  The 14-year-old boy was charged with 14 graffiti related offenses, and he too, was turned back over to a parent pending a hearing in Family Court.  The third subject arrested was a 14-year-old boy residing on Lowrey Drive in Wilmington.  He was charged with 14 graffiti related offenses turned over to a parent pending a Family Court hearing.  These three subjects are believed to be responsible for some of the graffiti along the Kirkwood Highway, Route 141 and Centerville Road corridors.

The public is still encouraged to report graffiti related cases as they occur.  These types of crimes are not often solved overnight, however, the State Police will to continue to investigate these occurrences and arrest those subjects identified for defiling our communities.
