Released-
Thursday, March 20, 2008
Claymont-
On March 1st,
at approximately 12:14 a.m., two boys were skateboarding across
Silverside Road at Concord Pike when one of the boys was struck by
an SUV. The impact occurred in the roadway and not in a designated
crosswalk. The boy, a 15-year-old Wilmington resident, was thrown as
a result of the impact approximately 20 yards from where he was
struck.
After the
crash, the SUV fled the scene eastbound on Silverside Road. The
friend of the boy who was struck could only advise the SUV was dark
in color and had a Delaware tag. It should have sustained front end
damage.
The pedestrian
who was struck was identified as James Sharpe. He was transported
from the scene to A.I. DuPont Hospital for Children where he was
treated for a broken leg and other contusions.
The officer
handling this case has reached a dead end in his investigation. He
is asking that anyone with information pertaining to this incident
call 302.761.6677 ext. 307. |
