State Police Probe Shooting at Harmony Plaza

Released- Thursday, March 20, 2008

Newark- On Thursday, March 20th, at approximately 1:00 a.m., Troopers were called to the Christiana Hospital for the report of a male subject with a gun shot wound. Preliminary reports indicate the victim was shot in the parking lot of Harmony Plaza (4126 Stanton Ogletown Road) after patroning the Tailgates Sports Bar.

Detectives were able to speak with the victim prior to surgery who said that he was initially inside Tailgates when he engaged in a verbal dispute with an unknown male subject. Tailgates staff asked the victim and his friends to leave.  The victim walked out to his vehicle and was talking with his cousin when a small blue car pulled up along side him.  The vehicle was occupied by a black male passenger and a white male driver. It was alleged the black male exited the vehicle, produced a handgun and fired two shots in the victim’s direction.

The victim, who was shot in the abdomen, was transported to the hospital by his cousin.  He is currently listed in stable condition at Christiana Hospital.

This incident is currently under investigation.  Additional information will be provided when these details are known and confirmed.
