Updated Release #2- I-95 Fatal Crash

Wilmington-
Authorities have identified the driver of the vehicle involved in
the I-95 fatal crash from last evening. Jerrin L. Averiett, 28, of
Olympia Avenue in Claymont was operating a 2000 Toyota Solara at the
time of the incident.
This investigation revealed Averiett
was traveling I-95 southbound just south of Route 202 when he lost
control of his vehicle for an unknown reason. The Toyota struck the
steel guardrail on the west side of the roadway. The vehicle
continued over the guardrail and ended up in a wooded area where it
struck a tree. The operator was pronounced dead at the scene. He
was wearing his seatbelt.
This crash remains under
investigation. Traffic in the area was affected for approximately
two hours.

Confirmation has been received that this crash involves a fatality.
One subject was pronounced dead at the scene. The final press
release in regards to this incident can be expected tomorrow
morning- March 20th.

Wilmington-
The Delaware State Police are currently on the scene of a single
vehicle crash on I-95 southbound, just south of Route 202. This
incident came in on March 19th at approximately 9:39 p.m. Reports
from the scene indicate this crash may involve a fatality. This
report is preliminary only as this incident just came in to police.
Motorist can expect delays in the
area. The vehicle involved is off of the roadway and officers are
currently checking the perimeter of the crash scene for any
additional victims.
Another release will follow when
information pertaining to this incident at known and confirmed.
