Update #3- DSP News Release: Saturday, February 21, 2009- Fatal Crash Near Georgetown

Sussex County- Investigators have completed an arrest warrant for Mr. James K. Harrington  listing the following offenses: Vehicular Homicide (felony) and Vehicular Assault (misdemeanor).  He will be formally charged once he is released from PRMC in Salisbury.

The Delaware State Police will disseminate a news release once the warrant has been served and Mr. Harrington has been arraigned.  There is no known timeframe as to when this might happen.

Update #2- DSP News Release: Friday, February 20, 2009- Fatal Crash Near Georgetown

Sussex County- This crash involved two vehicles.  The first vehicle was a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado which was operated by Henry J. Huff, 43, of Milton.  The second vehicle was a 1993 GMC pick-up truck which was operated by James K. Harrington, 54, of Georgetown. 

The Silverado was southbound on Sand Hill Road just south of Huff Rd at a very slow rate of speed, getting ready to turn right into a private drive. The GMC was also southbound on Sand Hill Rd at a high rate of speed approaching the slow moving Chevrolet.

The GMC rear ended the Silverado forcing both vehicles to slide sideways off the east edge of roadway where they both overturned.

Henry J. Huff, who was not wearing his seatbelt, was killed when his vehicle overturned. His son, Joshua Huff,18, of Milton, who was a passenger in the truck, and was also not wearing his seatbelt, was not injured.

James K. Harrington, who was not wearing his seatbelt, sustained non life threatening injuries and was flown to PRMC in Salisbury where he was admitted. A passenger in Harrington’s vehicle, Daniel D. Gambrell, 42, of Millsboro, who was not wearing his seatbelt, sustained serious internal injuries and was admitted to Beebe Hospital in Lewes.

The roadway was closed for 3 hours. No charges have been filed and this crash remains under investigation.

DSP News Release: Friday, February 20, 2009- Fatal Crash Near Georgetown
 
Location of Incident:
Sandhill Road in the area of Wilson Road which is northeast of Georgetown
 
Date and Time of Occurrence:  Friday, February 20, 2009, at approximately 3:01 p.m.
 
Resume:  State Troopers area currently on the scene of a fatal crash on Sandhill Road in the area of Wilson Road.
 
Preliminary reports indicate this was a two vehicle crash where one person was pronounced dead at the scene.  Another subject is reportedly injured.
 
Motorist should seek alternative routes. Sandhill Road is shut down between Huff Road and Wilson Road.
