Arrested For Multiple Burglaries and Felony Thefts

Selbyville-Delaware
State Police has made an arrest related to the theft of scrap metal
from victims in the Selbyville, Georgetown and Lewes areas. These
incidents occurred between December 13th and February 1st.
Through his
investigation, a detective from Troop 4 identified Patrick Tyre, 50,
of Frankford, DE, as his primary suspect.
Troopers
learned that that Tyre would target homes that were unoccupied and
steal scrap metal from the yard or within the residence. He would
initially knock on doors, and if his knock went unanswered, he would
either enter the home or peruse the property for his loot. Patrick
Tyre would sell this stolen commodity to various scrap metal yards
in Sussex County.
On Friday,
February 01, 2008, Tyre was charged with the following:
- 15 counts
of Burglary 3rd (felony)
- 11 counts
of Theft Where the Victim is 62 Years or Older (felony)
- 5 counts
of criminal mischief (misdemeanor)
- 4 counts
of Conspiracy 2nd (felony)
- 4 counts
of Theft (misdemeanor)
- 3 counts
of Criminal Trespass 3rd (misdemeanor)
- 2 counts
of Attempted Theft (misdemeanor)
Tyre was
committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $13, 703 bond.
This
investigation is ongoing as officers are looking to identify Tyre’s
co-conspirators.
