DSP News Release: Tuesday, October 13th, 2009 – Residential Robbery of Elderly Male Victim Probed

 

Location: Pine Cone Drive, Pot-Nets Coveside, Millsboro

 

Date of Occurrence: Monday, October 12th, 2009 at approximately 7:35 pm

 

Suspect(s): White male, 6’-6’3, thin build, approximately 160-165 pounds wearing baggy clothing.  The suspect’s face was covered.

 

Resume: Shortly after 7:30pm on Tuesday, October 12th, 2009, Delaware State Troopers were summoned to a residence located on Pine Cone Drive, Pot-Nets Coveside reference to a residential robbery. 

 

Upon the arrival of Troopers, the investigation revealed that a 71-year old male was alone inside of his residence.  An unknown white male suspect made entry into the residence via an unlocked door and confronted the victim. 

 

The suspect displayed a handgun and demanded money from the victim.  The victim complied with this request.   The suspect then ordered the victim to turn over his medications which were in plain view.  The victim complied with both requests at which time the suspect fled the area on foot with the medications and an undisclosed amount of money. 

 

Troopers descended on the area and established a perimeter.  A DSP K9 Unit responded and conducted a track of the area which led to an empty lot where fresh tire tracks were located. 

 

The victim was not injured in this incident.  The Delaware State Police reminds the public of the importance of securing both their residences and vehicles to minimize the chance of being victimized.
