  • 2nd Location - 32000 Block of River Road, Oak Orchard, Millsboro

Date of Occurrence: Friday, November 6th, 2009 at approximately 12:13 am

 

Suspect(s): Unknown black male and white male possibly operating a gold or tan minivan; armed with an unknown shotgun

 

Resume:

 

The investigation into this incident is on-going.  The individual, who sustained injuries during the incident, was transported to Beebe Medical Center.  The nature of his injuries are non-life threatening.

DSP News Release: Friday, November 6th, 2009 - DSP Presently Investigating a Shooting - Preliminary Release

Date of Occurrence: Friday, November 6th, 2009 at approximately 12:13 am

 

Suspect(s): Unknown black male and white male possibly operating a gold or tan minivan; armed with an unknown shotgun

 

Resume:

 

The Delaware State Police received an initial 911 call from the 32000 Block of Delaware Avenue, Oak Orchard, for a possible burglary and shots fired complaint at approximately 12:13 am.  Troopers converged on the residence.  Preliminary reports from the victim indicated that an unknown black male approached the residence, asked for a person by name, which the homeowner was not familiar with.  The suspect then fired two rounds through the front door and fled.  No injuries were reported at this location.

 

At approximately 12:29 am, Delaware State Police received a call indicating shots fired in the area of 32000 Block of River Road, Oak Orchard.  Witness reports indicated that the shots were fired from a gold or tan minivan occupied by two individuals, one white and one black male.  No injuries were reported at this location

 

At approximately 12:36 am a 911 call was received from the Harris Teeter Grocery Store, located at 26370 Bay Farm Road, Millsboro, for a robbery and shooting.  The investigation is presently unfolding, however, at the present time reports indicate that two individuals were approached by a white and black male traveling in the above described minivan.  The black male suspect exits the vehicle and ordered the two individuals to the ground.  The suspect subsequently removes various articles of their property and fires one round striking one of the victims in the hand and torso area.  The suspect vehicle then fled in an unknown direction.

 

The male victim that sustained injury was transported to Beebe Medical Center.  The nature of the injuries are unknown at the present time. 

 

As previously mentioned, the investigation is in very early stages.  Police units from throughout the county have saturated the area and are working in conjunction to locate the suspect vehicle.
