DSP News Release: December 28th, 2009. 8:00 am– Juvenile Arrested for a July 7th 2009, Surf Bagel Burglary.

 

Location: 17832 Coastal Highway, Surf Bagel, Lewes, DE

 

Date of Occurrence: 7/07/09 

 

Suspects:

  • Michael Mapp, 14 years old, of Lewes, DE

 

  • Jermaine Maker, 24 years old, of Milton, DE

 

 

Resume:  Troop 4 Detectives have arrested a male juvenile, Michael Mapp 14, of Lewes, DE for a burglary that occurred during last summer at Surf Bagel, in Lewes, DE.  During that incident suspects broke out the front window to make entry into the business.  Once inside suspects removed a donation jar with an undisclosed amount of money from the front counter. The suspects then fled through the front door of the business.

 

Through continued investigation Detectives were able to develop Michael Mapp and Jermaine Maker as suspects in the case.  On 12/23/09, Michael Mapp was contacted by Troop 4 Detectives and placed in custody for warrants issued out of Family Court for unpaid fines on unrelated charges.

 

 Michael Mapp was interviewed by Troop 4 Detectives in regard to the July 7th 2009, Surf Bagel Burglary and later charged with Burglary 3rd (f), Theft (m), Criminal Mischief (m), and Conspiracy 2nd (f).  Michael Mapp was arraigned on these charges and released to his mother pending trial in Family Court.

 

 

Detectives have also charged Jermaine Maker with, Burglary 3rd (f), Theft (m), Criminal Mischief (m), and Conspiracy 2nd (f), in relation to the July 7th Burglary. The warrant for Jermaine Maker is currently on file with Troop 4 Detectives.
